It was published on 8 October 2013, by Weidenfeld & Nicolson in the UK and Little, Brown and Company in the US. The book details the early life of Yousafzai, her father’s ownership of schools and activism, the rise and fall of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan in Swat Valley and the assassination attempt made against Yousafzai, when she was aged 15, following her activism for female education.

Summary of the Book
Malala started writing a blog in 2009, before becoming an icon of courage and hope around the world. She wrote about all her bitter experiences in the Swat Valley under the unreasonable power of the Taliban. The girls were deprived of education. Malala Yousafzai slowly made her presence felt through her regular appearances in international media. She supported freedom of education for everyone, especially for young girls and women in Swat Valley and across the world. In October 2011, Malala was shot while boarding her school bus. One of the bullets even went through her forehead and into her shoulder. But the brave heart survived the attack and came back even stronger. People from across the globe stood on her side of the battle. This book is the story of her indomitable strength, which has made her a global figure of sheer grit, peace, and hope.

About Malala Yousafzai
Malala Yousafzai is an activist for education and has been honoured with the Nobel Prize in 2014. In 2009, she started writing for a blog under a pseudonym for BBC, which gave away details of her life under Taliban occupation and how she wishes to promote education. In 2011, she was shot by a gunman thrice with one bullet hitting her forehead and running through the length of her face. She endured the attack and has become a global symbol for bravery.

Christina Lamb is a British journalist and currently the Foreign Correspondent for Sunday Times. She always wanted to be a writer and write about people. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and has won ‘Foreign Correspondent of the Year’ title four times.
